Pressure Transducers Now Easier to Install

In an effort to continuously adapt our product based on feedback from our customers, we made a small change regarding the wiring of our pressure transducers. Previously, transducers were wired directly into the Variable Frequency Drive’s (VFD) internal terminal blocks. Now, Franklin Control Systems will provide terminal blocks mounted on the back panel of all NEMA 1 and NEMA 3R centrifugal and submersible VFD packages for easier transducer installation. This will allow customers to wire transducers without removing the VFD cover.

Transducer wiring procedure is provided below:

Peel back insulation to expose shield (bare) wire. Note: Green and white wires should not be used.

Now Available! The SSP Smartstart Pump Starter

Franklin Electric, introduces the SSP Smartstart Pump Starter. It features a Class S electronic overload to handle a wide range of applications, and an input that accepts 200‐600 Volts – it is a true plug and play install.

Integrated electronic motor and pump protection

  • Class S electronic overload (designed for submersible motors)
  • Underload (dry‐run protection)
  • Current phase unbalance protection
  • Cycle fault protection
  • Locked rotor and stall protection
  • Out of calibration
    • Detects if overload FLA dial is improperly set

Multi‐voltage operating range with automation I/O

  • Accepts 200‐600 VAC directly
  • Includes a dry contact auto‐run input and fault relay output
  • Optional run timer ‐ adjustable up to 12 hours
    • Starter will run for selected time then return to OFF until another run command is given

Pressure Transducer Wiring Change

Franklin Control Systems has recently switched pressure transducer vendors. This switch has led to a slight change in our quickstart guide due to differing wire colors (new transducer has a black output wire, old transducer has a white output wire). The updated transducer wiring procedure is detailed below.

Pressure Transducer:

  1. Peel back insulation to expose shield (bare) wire. Note: Green & white wires should not be used.
  2. Wire the pressure transducer’s positive RED wire to the VFD terminal marked V+ for 12 VDC (“24” for 24 VDC) and the output BLACK wire to terminal I with the shield wired to:
    1. 5G for drives 40 hp or less
    2. CM on 50 hp and above
  3. For 24 VDC transducer setup, a wire jumper is required between CM and 5G.

Released: AG Series Cast Iron Centrifugal Pumps

Franklin Electric is excited to announce the release of the AG Series cast iron centrifugal pumps designed to outperform the competition in challenging water transfer applications demanding high performance and efficiency in industrial, commercial and agricultural markets.

The AG Series is equipped with standard JM and JP motor frames along with a stainless steel shaft sleeve to prolong the life of the pump. Pumps are available to fit the industry’s most popular models ranging from 3 thru 75 hp with flow ratings from 50 thru 1000 gpm with a maximum shut-off pressure of over 175 psi.

Optimized via CAD modeling and simulation, the pump’s updated hydraulic design offers improved energy efficiency, enhanced durability and extended operating life in water applications such as irrigation, turf & landscape maintenance, crop and livestock watering, pressure boosting and water circulation. Its standardized mounting dimensions and plumbing connections provide a quick and easy retrofit, reducing downtime, and the product’s “back pull-out” design makes repairs fast and simple.

SolarPAK Panel Kits Now Available

Franklin Electric is happy to announce the addition of Solar Panel Kits to accompany the SolarPAK line of solar powered submersible pumping systems.

The offering includes two solar module array kits:

  1. Top-of-pole mount kits
  2. Solar module only, contractor supplied mount, kits.

To make ordering and installation easy, all kits include:

  • Solar panels modules
  • Ground wire and bonding equipment
  • Square-D 600 Volt, 30 Amp, NEMA 3R DC-Rated disconnect switch
  • Connection wire for use between the solar panels and the DC disconnect
  • Connection wire for use between the DC disconnect and the SubDrive Solar control unit
  • Galvanized ground rod and clamps
  • Mechanical layout of the panel structure

The Solar Panel Kits sell sheet can be downloaded from the solar website, or via the link below. The website also includes links to the SolarPAK catalog, owner’s manual, and our web-based solar sizing software. This software will help you select the proper system solution based off your location and specific duty requirements. Be sure to check back often for updates.

Franklin Electric Releases Vertical Multi-stage Pumps

VR-Baldor-Pumps_FinalFranklin Electric’s VR Series, stainless steel vertical multi-stage pumps feature an innovative hydraulic design, superior efficiency and a heavy duty bearing designed to virtually eliminate axial and other moving part adjustments while utilizing industry standard motors. The VR Series is designed to deliver clean water under pressure with temperatures ranging from -5 °F to 250 °F for a multitude of commercial and industrial applications.

All models are constructed with 316 stainless steel for superior corrosion resistance, ease of installation, and to meet or exceed municipalities’ pure water requirements. Available in flow ratings include: 8 to 60 gpm, .75 to 10 hp delivering up to 750’ TDH, in 50/60 Hz.
